I'm thinking of starting up commissions.

The only problems are that I don't know what to charge, and whether I really even should bother to since I don't know if I am good enough to actually do it.

I need to upload more. Which I will, once I get some decent enough drawings (or full art) done. Soon? perhaps.

The last time I updated my journal was about 5 years ago. Lots of things have happened since then, including higher education, some life events, and various activities. So, without further ado...

Life and education. (Mostly education.)

Just recently (yesterday, April 6th), I turned 24. For the past two years, I've been in the Graphic Design program at the Nova Scotia Community College. Before that, the one-year Applied Communication Arts and Technologies program. And before that, I've been enrolled in the Information Technology and Web Development program/concentration for three years. The past three years have been particularly interesting, since I've been somewhat growing a bit more in my artistic abilities. They are still not that good, but at least I'm a pretty good designer. (Or at least I'd think so.) And at least my line-making skills have improved (getting a slightly better understand of anatomy, improving tool control, etc.) along with doing hand-made shading, and so on... as evidenced by some of my latest works that I've made and posted here within the past year or so.

Also on a solemn note in this section, two years ago to this day, my grandfather (on my mother's side) passed away. 6 months prior to that, my grandmother (also maternal), passed away. I miss you both.

I must apologize for my lack of appearances in general... If anything, the one thing that I wish that I could've done more of was actually finishing publishing my character designs for Black Panther (see azuretan.deviantart.com/art/Pa…) and preparing the character sheets for public viewing on the group... I tend to procrastinate... a lot. I've been figuring out methods of how I could possibly "fix" the problem the past few years, and one of them (which has actually been working well enough that I might try it with personal projects and not just school) is using a digital calendar (in my case, Google Calendar) to keep track of deadlines and due dates, setting reminders, and so on.

As a co-founder of assassinswanted and an ex-supporting staff member, I feel that my actions have not been satisfactory. From henceforth, I will try to make more often of an appearance, if only within the primary chat room (and our skype), and will attempt to get more work done, if even just sketches!

I will not write much here because it would mostly repeat what I wrote above, however I also wish that I have updated my gallery more often, even if just random bits and pieces of graphic design work from school and personal work. I have a bunch of things that I also sketched out digitally (and with physical media) that I think would also work as posts in my gallery.

I know that there are a lot of people out there that stumble on a lot of my older works and favourite them from time to time, and I think I have an idea of what most people would want to see now (colour manga/anime-style artwork), although as I said, I think it would be worth it for me to branch my gallery out here and post bits and snippets of what I've been working on for all to see.

In closing...

I hope that this journal entry has given you some insight into my life in the past five years. At this time of writing, it is 7am here in beautiful Sydney, Nova Scotia. The sun is rising, the birds are chirping... and I'm just tired. I hope to write a new journal entry sometime soon... and I mean within the next month. There might just be some exciting new changes around the bend for me.

Almost a year ago I explained why I didn't update my gallery often.

Now it's time to explain why there hasn't been any journal entries since October 2008 AND why I don't post often... again.

I just don't find any reason for me to update this journal. Just like my mostly inactive blog, Hidden Melody. It just gets populated by my latest tweets from my twitter account, and maybe every so often I might put something up there that may be worth reading.

For art, the reason why I don't pump out drawings and "finished" works often is because I mostly do really, uh... "bad" sketches^†. And it seems that people like finished, completely coloured works way better. And those take longer to do than plain old sketches.

So I ask you this:
Would you like to see more:

^† They tend to be very "sketchy."

I can imagine that some people coming to my page are wondering why I don't update as often as some other deviants.

The answer is quite simple.

I don't want to flood my account with sketches, especially quick-and-dirty ones.

So pretty much, you will only see new deviations only when I decide that a drawing that I did is finished enough to be put up. Hopefully the next time that I put up a drawing, it will be at least a little better than my previous ones (, and not as forced-looking as my newest CG.)
